The University of Melbourne, Australia, will hold an academic conference on the “Swift” phenomenon from February 11 to 13. An event in which seven universities from Australia and New Zealand are participating.

Participating scholars intend to engage in “critical dialogue” about Taylor Swift’s impact on pop culture, literature, economics and the music industry, among other things.

The organizers of the event called “Swiftposium”, which will take place a few days before the performances of his Eras tour, will receive theses from researchers in the Asia-Pacific region, from departments as varied as sociology, economics, marketing and studies of genres.

It will notably discuss the star’s relationship with social movements such as feminism and the rights of LGBTQ groups, his influence on the political sphere, questions of identity and gender, as well as the impact of his tours on the economy and culture.

The University of Texas at Austin is offering a course where you can study the texts of Taylor Swift, while Ghent University in Belgium is offering a course this fall on the literary value of her discography. The University of Arizona offers a course called Psychology of Taylor Swift – Advanced Topics of Social Psychology.
