(Denver) Seattle Kraken forward Jordan Eberle suffered a laceration to his leg after being hit by a teammate’s skate blade, and is expected to miss Thursday night’s game against the Colorado Avalanche .
Eberle suffered the injury in training on Wednesday. Kraken general manager Ron Francis told the Seattle Times that Eberle suffered a laceration near his quadriceps and underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test to determine the severity of the cut.
The team did not specify the results of the MRI test and Kraken head coach Dave Hakstol was scheduled to meet with members of the media following the morning warm-up session on Thursday.
Eberle’s injury came after former NHL player Adam Johnson died after being struck in the throat by a skate blade during a game in England last month.
Eberle has one goal and three assists in 13 games this season, his third with the Kraken. In Eberle’s absence, the Kraken recalled prospects Shane Wright and Ryan Winterton from their Coachella Valley farm club.
Wright was the Kraken’s first pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, while Winterton was a third-round pick in 2021. Wright appeared in eight games with Washington State last season, while Winterton is playing his first professional season.
