The recent pension reform will, barring any last-minute surprises, be implemented as of September 1. On the program for all French people: an increase in the legal age of departure, which is still struggling to be accepted, as well as an increase in the duration of insurance. In this tense context and while the opposition continues to wait for the parliamentary niche of the Liot group, a revaluation of pensions has been announced for the beginning of September as well. Is your pension part of the future increases announced?

The struggle led by the unions, the French and the opposition has not succeeded in bending the executive, still fixed on a pension reform now adopted. While its promulgation was carried out by the President of the Republic, the raising of the legal age of departure will be done gradually from September 1st. At the heart of these major upheavals, good news came to clear up a very gray sky with the announcement of a revaluation of pensions. For some retirees, in fact, the month of September will rhyme with a significant increase.

Every year, retirement pensions are increased. For example, in July 2022, basic pensions were increased by an exceptional 4% based on current inflation. In this line, the executive has also chosen to increase social aid, but also family allowances to 1.53% and 4%, respectively. For 2023, basic pensions have again been increased by 0.8% in order to relieve households that are increasingly strained by the current situation.

In the line of sight, the revaluation of the contributory minimum, which is planned, relaunches the debate around the minimum pension promised by the government. To date, to benefit from the minimum contribution, you must have reached the legal retirement age, now set at 62, but also have contributed the number of quarters required according to your year of birth.

However, this revaluation is not the same for future retirees and current retirees. For retirements from September 2023, the MiCo will be increased by 25 euros, to 709 euros, and the MiCo increased by 75 euros. In the most favorable situation, the increased MiCo would therefore amount to 848 euros.

With the promise of a minimum pension of 1200 euros, the government has greatly scratched its image in the face of the reality of this sum and the number of retirees concerned. This device will, in fact, be understood according to a gross amount, additional included, only for those who have reached the age of the full rate. However, 1.8 million retirees will benefit.

From next September, the minimum contribution will thus be increased by 100 euros, as announced by the government. It is the amending social security financing law (LFRSS) that will allow this indexation, as well as the increase in the reference pension on the minimum wage. The amount of the minimum contribution is thus set at 684.14 euros per month until the end of the year.
