(London) Canadian Milos Raonic withdrew from the Cinch Championships on Tuesday, shortly before having to play his first round match of this preparatory tournament at Wimbledon.

Raonic, who recently made a return to the ATP Tour after a nearly two-year absence, was set to face Australian Jordan Thompson.

Reports indicate that Raonic is troubled by a right shoulder injury. Australian Alexei Popyrin replaced him in the main draw.

The severity of the injury and the status of Raonic’s appearance at Wimbledon in July are uncertain. The ATP and Tennis Canada did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Raonic, who once held No. 3 in the world, has been plagued by numerous injuries during his career.

The 32-year-old Ontarian won his opener at the Libema Open in the Netherlands last week before losing to Thompson in the second round.
