That sound you just heard? It’s the scribble of all MLS fans circling the date Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami will come to town. For CF Montreal, it will be May 11 at Saputo stadium.

Be careful, however. The Argentine could miss up to 10 weeks of MLS activity next season, between March and October, due to his obligations with his national team.

Before receiving Messi, the CFM will have faced him at home in Miami on March 10.

As the start of the home season was delayed due to exploratory work at the Olympic Stadium, Montreal’s first match at home will take place on April 13.

Last August, the arrival of the Argentinian on the North American circuit caused the price of resale tickets to explode. CNBC spoke last August of a 1700% increase.

In November, CF Montreal president Gabriel Gervais told La Presse that the team will have, for the first time in its history, 10,000 season tickets next season. The arrival of Messi probably, at least in part, helped to inflate these figures.
