The Montreal real estate maintenance specialist GDI announced at the end of the day Monday an acquisition in the United States.

GDI claims to have reached an agreement with its French counterpart Atalian to purchase its commercial services activities for buildings located in the United States. The price of the transaction was not disclosed.

Atalian’s U.S. operations have a workforce of more than 2,500 employees with operations concentrated in the Northeast, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions.

This acquisition allows GDI’s U.S. commercial services platform to enter new geographies such as New York City, Ohio and Missouri.

Executives from both companies also agreed to collaborate in pursuing and providing integrated commercial building maintenance services to potential international clients in their respective regions, with Atalian operating in Europe and GDI in North America.

Atalian has operations in around twenty countries.
