(Chicago) Chicago White Sox power hitter Eloy Jimenez is expected to miss two to three weeks of action after injuring his hamstring in his left leg while bypassing the cushions.

The team placed Jimenez on the 10-day disabled list on Wednesday and recalled infielder Jake Burger from their AAA Charlotte affiliate.

Jimenez sustained the injury trying to reach third base following Andrew Vaughn’s double run in the seventh inning of the game that ended 12-3 in favor of the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

Jimenez, 26, is 4-for-19 in the first five games of the season.

Hit 31 home runs in his rookie season in 2019, but only played 55 games in 2021 after tearing a tendon in his left pectoral muscle while attempting a catch during spring training camp .

He also had hamstring surgery in his right leg at the start of last season, after being injured while trying to take a throw to first base. It was thus limited to 84 games.
