(Boston) The Boston Bruins have signed forward Trent Frederic to a two-year, $4.6 million contract, avoiding salary arbitration.

Frederic, who was a restricted free agent, set career highs last season with 17 goals and 14 assists in 79 games. He was shut out of the scoresheet in five outings in the playoffs.

The 25-year-old American was in his third full NHL season.

A first-round pick of the Bruins in 2016, 29th overall, Frederic had 29 goals and 25 assists in 198 NHL games.

Goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman is still awaiting a hearing before an arbitrator, who must decide on his salary.
