The Carolina Panthers made quarterback Bryce Young the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday night.

The secrecy surrounding the selection of the Panthers was less and less well kept as the days progressed. Carolina needed a quarterback who could jump-start the organization, and the 23-year-old looks like he has what it takes.

A graduate of the University of Alabama program, Young threw for 32 touchdowns, five interceptions and 3,328 passing yards in 12 games with the Crimson Tide last season.

In 2021, he inherited the Heisman trophy, awarded to the best player on the American university circuit.

He is the seventh quarterback in 10 years to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.
