The complete interior programming of the Francos de Montréal is now unveiled. “Between nostalgia and new guard”, the poster presents names such as Louane, Marjo, Souldia, Jok’Air and Arthur H. Artists who add to those already announced, such as -M-, Isabelle Boulay, Daniel Bélanger, Louise Attaque or Philippe B, performing from June 9 to 17.

For its paid indoor shows, in seven of the halls of Montreal’s Quartier des spectacles, the Francos are announcing new names, some representing festival veterans and others the new generation. Thus, Souldia, Louane, Marjo, Jok’Air, Arthur H, Les Hôtesses d’Hilaire, Yuksek, among a few others, will be present in June.

The indoor shows of Louise Attaque, Juliette Armanet, Philippe B, Lost and Camélia Jordana had already been announced.

“We finally convinced Louane to come play with us, we’ve been on this for years,” says Maurin Auxéméry, director of programming for the festival. There is a big audience for her here. As many children, who flipped over the film The Bélier family, as their parents. For him, the addition of Marjo to the lineup was a “must have” this year. He also highlights the presence of Julette Armanet, “one of the hottest French artists at the moment”, who always gives a superb show.

A Rap Queb Monuments evening, in honor of the album developed by Taktika last year, bringing together the OGs of Quebec rap, will be presented at Club Soda on June 17. As tradition dictates, about fifteen artists from all over the Francophonie will appear on stage for the show at the École nationale de la chanson on June 9.

The artists on the poster for the Francos come to us from Europe, but also many from Quebec, as they do every year. “What is important is the love of the language, explains Maurin Auxéméry, who also leads the boat for the Jazz Festival. We are a team that loves this language and is committed to making it shine. It allows us to go in all directions, so that many people find themselves there. We like hip-hop, we like songs, we like more pop stuff. This festival is just like that. »

While crafting an engaging lineup is an art, festival organizers have been honing their technique for enough years to deftly master its workings. For these 34th Francos, the winning formula remains the same. For example, we must make sure not to put two artists who attract the same audience in concert at the same time, explains Maurin Auxéméry. We have to decide which ones will be in free shows outside and which ones will offer an indoor concert.

You also have to choose which venue will suit each artist best – Daniel Bélanger, for example, will be performing before the Francos for three shows at MTELUS; the festival will therefore offer a completely different format, in the comfort of Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts, during two other concerts.

For some artists, the atmosphere and the crowd of an outdoor show are a magnificent showcase, which they will prefer to an indoor concert. “It’s the beginning of summer, we like to party during these shows, it’s more suitable for large gatherings, which works better with certain artists”, adds the director of programming. Les Francos will announce the artists of the outdoor program in the coming weeks. “There are some very nice surprises coming. »
