Ibrahim A. became known as the Brokstedt assassin when he killed two people after a knife attack. Ibrahim A. has to serve a life sentence for his crime.
Ibrahim A. attacked several passengers on a regional train ride from Kiel to Hamburg on January 25, 2023. Two people lost their lives in the attack.
The Palestinian-born student stabbed 17-year-old student Ann-Marie Kyrath a total of 26 times before she bled to death on the train. Her friend Danny also dies in the rampage after being stabbed in the heart.
Four other people are injured. One of Ibrahim A.’s injured victims committed suicide a few months after the crime.
Passengers can stop the then 33-year-old gunman and hold him at Brokstedt train station. After hearing almost 100 witnesses and experts, the Itzehoe Regional Court came to the conclusion in May 2024 that the defendant was fully culpable. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
