(Montreal) The work of Yvon Deschamps will serve as inspiration for a multidisciplinary “variety show” which will hit the road next fall in Quebec.

The show Yvon Deschamps tells La Shop promises to be “a musical and humorous tale which is based on a creative vision of the texts” of the comedian and “on around twenty Quebec musical successes”.

Announced as the first production in a Raconte series from Maison Balyse, the show will present “a multi-art universe, mixing theater, humor, music, dance, circus and the manipulation of giant puppets”.

The project was initiated by director Jean-François Blais (La Voix, En direct de l’univers, Belle et Bum), who convinced Yvon Deschamps to come out of his “retirement”. The comedian agreed to work on the texts and to be the narrator of the show, on video. The musical arrangements were entrusted to Antoine Gratton and the four musicians on stage “are part of the factory characters”, indicates the producers’ press release.

“Of the 19 artists on stage, four main characters inspired by Yvon Deschamps’ “guy from the shop”, each with their own distinct personality, will take their place on stage in order to bring to life a story where drama, love, friendship and death coexist,” it says.

The show will be presented in September in Granby then at Place des Arts in Montreal and at the Grand Théâtre de Québec, before going on tour.

“In an era where industrialization and the replacement of humans involve the arrival of machines and access to artificial intelligence, and where the love of an exploitative boss is almost infinite, it will be easy to ask “qu’ossa donne”! », underline the producers.
