(Montreal) CAE on Tuesday posted second quarter profit and revenue up compared to the same period last year.

The flight simulator company reported a profit attributable to shareholders of $58.4 million, or 18 cents per share, for the quarter ended September 30.

By comparison, it made a profit of 44.5 million, or 14 cents per share, for the same period last year

Quarterly revenues totaled 1.09 billion, higher than 993.2 million in the previous second quarter.

On an adjusted basis, CAE earned 27 cents per share in its most recent quarter, up from 19 cents per share a year earlier.

Last month, CAE announced it had reached an agreement to sell its healthcare operations to US company Madison Industries for $311 million.
