The two Montreal clubs from the five major leagues are in second place in the ranking of professional sports teams in North America according to Sportico.

The sports business site updated the values of NFL clubs on Tuesday morning, which allowed the rankings to be updated. The Canadiens are ranked 79th among the 152 teams on the said list thanks to their value of $1.7 billion. CF Montreal, meanwhile, takes the latter spot given a valuation of 390 million.

The Habs sit third among NHL teams behind the Toronto Maple Leafs (66th) and New York Rangers (68th). Notably, the CH is ahead of two NBA teams as well as 13 Major League Baseball teams.

The top team in said ranking is, unsurprisingly, the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys given their $9.2 billion valuation. The NBA’s Golden State Warriors (7.6 billion) and MLB’s New York Yankees (7.1 billion) complete the podium.

The circuit that outrageously dominates this list is the NFL, which sees its 32 teams in the top-40. The only other league that has all of its teams in the top 100 is the NBA.

Also note the emergence of a few strong markets in MLS, including Los Angeles clubs (Galaxy and LAFC) as well as Atlanta United with its average of over 47,000 spectators per game. LAFC ($900 million) continues to rise and has even outstripped 17 NHL teams, including the Pittsburgh Penguins, Seattle Kraken, Colorado Avalanche and Calgary Flames.
