(Washington) Inflation in the United States slowed to 5% year on year in March, doing better than expected, and thus stands at its lowest level in almost two years, according to the CPI price index published on Wednesday by the US Department of Labor.

Analysts expected consumer prices to rise another 5.1% year on year. Over one month, inflation stood at 0.1%, against 0.2% expected, and after 0.4% the month before.
