Olivier Véran: who is Camille Lesne, the mother of his children?

Olivier Véran had to confront the harsh laws of politics. On the front of the stage during the COVID crisis, the former minister of health, now government spokesperson, finds himself once again in the lion’s den to defend the law on pension reform. He faces fierce opposition not only from the political class, but also from the French.

Unknown to the general public before becoming Minister of Health in 2020, some knew him for his role as an MP. Initially as a socialist deputy then LREM, as for others it was undoubtedly for his position as a neurologist at the Grenoble University Hospital. Until then, the government spokesperson had strong support on his side in the person of his ex-wife: Camille Lesne. Married since 2008, Olivier Véran had then promised him not to approach politics. This is ultimately what got the better of their marriage and the couple separated in 2018. Olivier Véran has to juggle between professional and personal life to take care of his two children aged 9 and 12.

The government spokesperson states in his 2018 book “Beyond the Waves” that “he was very lucky. Camille Lesne, obstetrician gynecologist in Isère is described there as “a very active mother” and Olivier Véran “measures his luck” to have had someone like her by his side. His ex-wife made herself constantly available for her children when the former minister was busy with his work. Busy days that prevented any life as a couple and created a difficult situation for his ex-wife.

Olivier Véran says he is on good terms with his ex-wife, Camille Lesne. A separation that comes as the current government spokesman had found love in the national assembly. The first chamber of parliament was the scene of the birth of an idyll between the former minister and Coralie Dubost, then deputy. “Between Olivier and me, things took time, we were colleagues, then friends, before love at first sight”. A duo united by the same desire and the same passion, which ends up separating in 2021.
