(Melbourne) Tennis legend Andre Agassi said Novak Djokovic, seeking an unprecedented 25th Grand Slam title and an 11th Australian Open title, was undoubtedly the greatest player of all time, emphasizing that the numbers do not lie.

“There are so many ways to look at it, but when you look at it on paper, you can’t argue with what he’s accomplished,” Agassi said in an interview with The Australian published on Sunday, about the Serbian 36-year-old, whom he coached with Radek Stepanek between 2017 and 2018.

“The number of victories, head-to-heads, titles, N.1 places at the end of the year, weeks spent in first place… all these statistics,” added the 53-year-old American.

Present in Melbourne to attend the Australian Open, the winner of eight Grand Slam tournaments and former world No.1, considers that Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have all brought a lot to the game.

“When I look at what people bring to the sport, he [Djokovic] brought a lot, without a doubt,” Agassi emphasizes.

“Then you look at what Roger brought to this sport — the elegance, the class and the way he did it — and then Nadal, the intensity or the way of engaging in the game, all those guys gave another dimension to tennis. But on paper, I don’t think we can dispute what Novak did,” Agassi believes.
