Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander was fined by the NHL Department of Player Safety for tripping San Jose Sharks forward Kevin Labanc during Monday’s game .

Hoglander will be relieved in the amount of US$2,864.58, the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement ratified by the Players’ Association and the league.

The Swede was punished and ejected from the game for his action, and his Canucks teammate Connor Garland served the penalty in his place.

The incident occurred near the end of the second period in front of the Canucks bench, and Hoglander initially received a minor penalty for his action. This has, however, been revised.

The Canucks doubled their lead shortly after the incident, when Sam Lafferty scored shorthanded.

Hoglander has scored five goals and three assists in 17 games this season, his fourth with the Canucks.
