After a 12% drop in energy consumption this winter, the Minister for Energy Transition calls for us not to relax our efforts and presents a new energy sobriety plan. “Sobriety is all year round including summer,” explained June 20 to Parisian, Agnès Pannier-Runacher.

This famous roadmap includes a measure that may appeal to many French people. This is the “thermostat plan”. According to the Minister for Energy Transition, this tool reduces electricity consumption by nearly 15%. This plan will bring together many professionals in the sector. Manufacturers, distributors and energy suppliers will have to organize themselves in order to officially launch this plan which could potentially concern the whole of France.

Even if many French people are already equipped with this device allowing them to monitor their electricity consumption in real time, a real disparity seems to hinder the government in its quest for energy sobriety. In addition to monthly monitoring, it is for example possible to lower the temperature or even turn off the heating. Suffice to say that the thermostat can become an asset for consumers wishing to reduce their monthly bills.

The question is often asked whether this device goes well with all types of installations. The answer is yes, according to Mathieu Bineau, managing director of Voltatis, a company specializing in the manufacture and distribution of thermostats, as he explains to Capital. In addition, the figures for the number of installations are increasing every year. “For 15 years, we have already installed 1 million thermostats and we plan to multiply by 6 our rate of installation. The objective is to reach 2.5 million radiators equipped by 2025”, suggests- he. Suffice to say that the objective set by the government seems to be on the right track.
