(Paris) The American Coco Gauff, 7th in the world, qualified for the semi-finals of the Eastbourne grass tournament on Thursday by dismissing her compatriot Jessica Pegula (4th) 6-3, 6-3.

Gauff, who made a name for herself by beating Venus Williams in the first round of Wimbledon in 2019, had yet to win this year against a top-10 player.

She will try to reach the final by facing another of her compatriots on Friday, Madison Keys (25th), who dominated the Croatian Petra Martic (30th) 6-4, 6-1.

Gauff and Pegula teamed up in doubles at Eastbourne where they qualified for the semi-finals.

The other semi-final will oppose the Russian Daria Kasatkina (11th), who benefited from the abandonment of the French Caroline Garcia (5th), to the Italian Camila Giorgi (67th) also beneficiary of the abandonment of the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (17th). Giorgi led a set to zero 7-6 (10/8).
