French banks are popular. Each quarter, the Posternak-Ifop barometer of La Matrice, a polling institute, publishes the ranking of companies preferred by the French. On June 2, 2023, this company unveiled the image ranking of the favorite banks of the French in the second quarter of 2023. The latter being between March and June 2023. “Since 1999, La Matrice has produced a quarterly barometer which tracks the image of large French companies”, specifies the La Matrice website. This institute has access to observatories from several sectors such as banking, mass distribution, and even telephony. “The Posternak Ifop barometer as well as the specific observatories are tools to help with the marketing positioning and the communication strategy of brands and companies”, informs the site of La Matrice. But what is the methodology applied to establish the ranking?

The Posternak-Ifop barometer is particularly interested in the image reflected by these banks during the different quarters of the year. Thus, to establish its ranking, La Matrice questions a sample of French people on the basis of an image index ranging from 0 to 100. Moreover, it also specifies the evolution of their good image by comparing them to the previous barometer. This latest study was carried out from June 1 to 2, 2023. 1,004 French people aged 18 or over took part.
