Consumer prices have been rising steadily in recent months. Indeed, as franceinfo proves, his shopping basket made up of 37 everyday products, took two euros, from March to April. In other words, it is a record increase for this year 2023. In one year, it is toilet paper, frozen meat, rice, sugar and flour, which are among the products that have suffered the strongest inflation. .

This commercial operation, launched on March 15, for profit for the wallet of the French offers reduced prices on a selection chosen by the distributors themselves. As Bruno Le Maire explained, this operation was intended to be positive in the face of the inflationary spiral and allowed “a drop of 5 to 7%” in prices.

Questioned this Wednesday, May 3 on franceinfo, the Minister of the Economy confirms that he wants to continue this measure: “we will extend the anti-inflation quarter beyond June 15”. He even assures that “the distributors have given their agreement”. Nevertheless, it is the industrialists who continue to put a glue in Bercy. These are the core of the food price pass-through problem.

As he announced in a letter in mid-April, Bruno Le Maire finally intends to bring together manufacturers and distributors in Bercy to advance the dialogue. “We are going to bring them to Bercy to speed up trade negotiations, so that the big manufacturers pass on the drop in wholesale prices to consumer prices,” he explains.

Even if today it seems complicated, how can the fall in prices take place in September? Discover in our slideshow below, what are the challenges for this back-to-school goal?
