In total, the artist will have sold around 180 million records during his 70-year career. A busy life that ended on October 1, 2018 at the age of 94.
Married three times, he left his loved ones in mourning, including his six children. Before his disappearance, Charles Aznavour had planned everything concerning his inheritance estimated at 145 million euros, relays Le Figaro. A will that would have prepared thirty years ago so that his family did not enter into a war over inheritance, like some large families in the media. “It’s been thirty years since I made my will. I don’t want to fight over a spoon or a fork, it’s ridiculous and that’s what happens often,” he said in the September 2018 show and to add: “I would like a lot to stay, because it will give copyright to my grandchildren”.
According to the magazine Challenges, the singer would have a fortune of 2.2 million euros. An amount that would have been inflated by his real estate. The artist would also have a residence on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland, a house in the Alpilles “adjoining his exploitation of olive trees (…) and his olive oil exploitation company”, reports France Soir. According to Médiapart in an article published before his death, Charles Aznavour also set up a holding company in Luxembourg called Abricot SA.
In an interview with Gala, his son Mischa had mentioned the “fluid” organization of the inheritance. “We discuss what is necessary and we work in good agreement so that the projects do not interfere with each other”, he declared and added: “I do a lot of public relations , interviews, because I’m the least shy. And Katia and her husband are involved in the film project about my father”.
His father had wished there were no worries about his disappearance. “To give you an idea, we had a forest in Montfort-l’Amaury, which I loved. I wanted him to leave it to me, but he didn’t want to hear anything” so he said to him: “This is not buildable, I’m going to sell it, you’re not going to know what to do with it…”. His last wife now lives in Switzerland and leads a quiet life. “She doesn’t like to travel too much, she is happy surrounded by her children”.
