The light at the end of the tunnel is not for now. Inflation has continued to rise in recent months and the worst is not yet behind us, according to industry professionals. The year-on-year price increase is 13% according to consumer monitoring firm NielsenIQ, but it all depends on the shelves. Indeed, as franceinfo explains, different categories of products are impacted:

It is these last products that are experiencing the most significant price increase, in particular because of the price of energy, which has greatly impacted production, explains franceinfo. Frozen pizzas are the products that come out on top, while frozen desserts are less impacted for now.

Hygiene, baby products, maintenance… The other departments of your supermarkets are not left out and some increases are particularly important for consumers, especially on the side of diapers for toddlers.

If inflation fell slightly in March, increases could continue until June, according to the boss of System U. Guest on BFMTV Tuesday April 18, Dominique Schelcher explained: “The prognosis is between 23% and 25% on food and drugstores, perfumery and hygiene by the end of June”. “We are adding the results of the trade negotiations, the application of which is being spread over the next few months,” he added to our colleagues.

If prices have increased everywhere, some brands still offer lower prices than elsewhere. For the month of April, journalist Olivier Dauvers – specialist in mass distribution – publishes a new price index in drive-thru services in hypermarkets and supermarkets. In partnership with a3distrib, the journalist reveals the ranking of the 14 drive-thru brands, from the most expensive to the least expensive. Check it out in the slideshow below.
