Shortage of gasoline: the departments where the situation remains tense

To protest against the pension reform, several staff and unions continue to block refineries and depots across France. On April 7, 2023, the day before the Easter weekend, around 5% of petrol stations were in a shortage situation.

The Paris region is once again the most affected on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Between 20 and 40% of stations lack at least one type of fuel, most often unleaded. The central regions of the country such as Cher, Indre, Loir-et-Cher among others are not spared either.

Even if a minority of them are in total shortage, some are in total shortage of gasoline. Among these departments concerned, we find Loiret, Eure-et-Loir and Indre-et-Loire.

Nevertheless, the national situation is improving and this will continue in the coming days. This Tuesday, April 11, 2023, 7.5% of stations lacked at least one fuel.

This Monday, the Gonfreville depot was still occupied by strikers who had come to sacrifice their Easter Monday. The situation has changed since, as announced by BFMTV, the site located in Normandy has been abandoned by the trade unionists who have decided not to disrupt the activity any longer. As the situation is slightly improving, this will be able to speed up the supply of certain stations, particularly in Ile-de-France. As Olivier Gantois, president of Ufip Energies and Mobilities at the microphone of Europe 1, indicated: “the supply of service stations by tanker trucks is constrained on weekends, since these trucks are not allowed to circulate between Saturday noon and Sunday evening. Today, it is possible that we will have a deterioration following the weekend that we have just spent, but the situation will improve again”. The situation should be back to normal within a week.

17 departments are still in difficulty. Find out below if your department is one of them.
