Bank card: the new method to follow to facilitate your online purchases

According to INSEE, 69.1% of the population made at least one online purchase in 2021, all ages combined. In 2009, this figure was 39%. Buying on the internet has therefore become more democratic with the development of commercial sites and online stores. Whether food, clothing or transport tickets, ordering on the Internet has become a commonplace act. However, online payment services do not seem to have improved much in recent years.

Indeed, several methods are offered at the time of payment. You can enter your credit card details directly on the merchant site. Most offer you to save this information to facilitate your future purchases. However, we do not advise you to do so for security reasons. Other methods offered are the use of a digital wallet such as Paypal. However, many sites do not offer this type of payment. So how do you protect your data while simplifying your online shopping?

Our colleague Victoria Beurnez, journalist at BFMTV informed that more than 150,000 French bank card data had been stolen on the darknet. France was then the country most affected by this type of theft. In order to improve the security of your data, a new way to pay online has been found by the bank card networks.

Indeed, EMVeco, a company owned by Visa, MasterCard or American Express, offers the “Click to Pay” or “Click to pay” method. The idea is to be able to reduce the number of steps that separate you from your purchase. This company therefore promises that in one click, you can pay for your books or your train tickets without communicating all your bank details each time. Discover in our slideshow below what are the steps to follow to benefit from this new method.

Moreover, this feature is not yet available in France. For the moment, other European countries can benefit from it, such as Great Britain or Switzerland. MasterCard, interviewed by Vincent Mignot of the MoneyVox site, talks about its availability “during the second half of 2023” in France. Nevertheless, French merchant sites using Ayden as a payment service can offer you this method.

In the meantime, you can already consult the method to follow to be able to use it as soon as it is released in France.
