Each day is enough to remember. Intermarché, Carrefour, E.Leclerc… No matter where you are used to shopping, you have surely come across one of these in-store posters asking customers to bring back a product that is unfit for consumption. For better communication around the different foodstuffs or not subject to withdrawals from the shelves, the government set up the Rappel Conso platform in the spring of 2021.

Recently, several aperitif products have been recalled in stores for various reasons, including labeling errors that affect the readability of certain allergens such as milk, soy, gluten (wheat), eggs, sesame… If these products are very dangerous for allergic consumers, they are without any risk for others. However, everyone is free to return the product to the store for a refund before the end date of the recall procedure.

Fish rillettes, also recalled at the moment, are for their part the subject of a withdrawal in store due to a non-compliant level of histamine in the raw material. The consumption of these products therefore entails a risk of food poisoning, likely to occur 30 minutes to a few hours after tasting.

“The symptoms observed are classically redness and “swelling” of the face, headaches, a feeling of heat and discomfort, associated with digestive signs (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)”, explains Rappel Conso. Allergy sufferers are particularly concerned, as they risk having serious respiratory problems. “Remission is usually spontaneous and accelerated with the administration of an antihistamine,” the site said.
