Listeria: chicken recalled in 5 supermarket chains

Smoked chicken is a very popular dish in many gastronomy: Gabonese, Reunionese, to name a few. Originally, smoking chicken was a way to preserve it more efficiently and longer, more than a taste preference.

It is very widespread in France nowadays. Smoking your chicken yourself is certainly an experience to do, but it requires a lot of equipment and above all time. This is why we find today in many supermarkets chicken already smoked, therefore precooked. Indeed, smoking a food amounts to cooking it at a very, very low temperature, for a long time.

Several large retailers yesterday alerted their customers to the risk posed by certain smoked chickens marketed in their stores between October 17 and 21. These nationwide recalls are due to a risk of the presence of Listeria in chickens.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium responsible for the development of a disease called listeriosis. This infection can be fatal if the patient is not treated, most often with antibiotics. Listeriosis is particularly dangerous for pregnant people and the immunocompromised.

Customers who have purchased and consumed these chickens are also asked to monitor the appearance of symptoms such as fever, vomiting, or even weakness out of the ordinary. It is therefore imperative to consult a doctor as soon as possible, and to inform him of your consumption of this risky product.

Here are the part numbers of the affected products:

Return these products to the store where you purchased them for a refund! Planet has listed for you the stores that have resold the products concerned, according to the Rappel Conso site.
