French women and men who are entitled to a refund from the tax authorities will soon be able to recover their money. But why can they claim it?

No, you are not done with taxes. Most French men and women have already taken the time to fulfill their civic duty… while the others are now exposed – and for a while already – to significant sanctions. For lack of having informed the tax authorities in time, latecomers and heads in the air will indeed have to face an increase in their tax. However, they are not the only ones who will have to pay more! There is also the very specific case of taxpayers whose income has increased during the year. Having failed to alert the General Directorate of Public Finance, they did not have their rate of withholding tax updated… and therefore paid less than what was necessary.

In this type of situation, we then speak of remaining dependents. The tax authorities will automatically deduct the amount due from the account of the taxpayer concerned, according to a few specific methods, indicate the Bercy teams on the tax site:

Of course, there is also an inverse situation: French women and French people to whom the tax authorities owe money. This can be explained in two different ways.
