The non-league team took a surprise lead at Aggborough over their top-flight counterparts. Alex Penny sent the home fans wild after defeating Alphonse Areola, a France international goalkeeper.

Penny capitalized on the confusion in West Ham’s box. Alphonse Areola, goalkeeper, and Kurt Zouma, centre-back, failed to handle a set-piece. The Harriers right back was the most calm man in the stadium, as he slotted into an open net.

Kidderminster already had one of the greatest shocks of competition when they beat Reading second-tier through goals by Sam Austin and Amari Morison-Smith.

The non-league side has played West Ham before in this competition, narrowly losing out to the London outfit during the 1993-94 competition.

Kidderminster started their cup campaign in round two, beating Sporting Khalsa from the Northern Premier League Division One Middles. They had to play further qualifying games against Ware FC, Bedfont Sports, and then proceed to the first round.

Russ Penn’s team defeated National League Premier opposition in the first round and second, defeating Grimsby Town FC Halifax Town without conceding any goals.

After coming up from right back, Penny opened the scoring. She joined Boston United from non-league side Boston United, having previously been in League One, and the Scottish Premiership.
