Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan formerly voiced sympathy for the HGTV celebrity over the problem

“Rehab Addict Rescue” celebrity Nicole Curtis has scored a success in a legal dispute with Detroit, Mich. over possession of a blighted house.

The HGTV star said she’s spent $60,000 to begin fixing up the house after purchasing it from a few for $17,000. However, the Detroit Land Bank Authority stepped forward and stated it was the true legal owner.

Wayne County Judge Tim Kenny dominated in Curtis’ favor, stating her renovation team had listed a name to the land prior to the Land Bank did, The Detroit News reported Friday.

Kenny told Curtis to finish the renovation and lessen the threat to the general public.

Curtis’ Detroit Renovations LLC seemingly did not understand that the home had returned to the Land Bank’s control following the previous owners failed to adjusted this up.

Mayor Mike Duggan has stated Curtis had been”scammed” by people who did not legally own the land. But following the court judgment, the mayor called to congratulate her.

“As far as we’re concerned, the issue is solved,” Duggan spokesman John Roach stated.

The paper said Curtis plans to invest $500,000 to rekindle the house.

Back in March, Duggan confessed that he felt”poor” for Curtis.

“It seems she had been scammed. It seems she paid someone who did not have the home and compensated them to purchase it. However, the land bank can not lawfully just offer her the land,” he explained.
