Disney is creating a change for the better by upgrading the Jungle Cruise ride during its bicoastal theme parks, eliminating”negative depictions” of native peoples.
The first Jungle Cruise ride initially started in Disneyland in 1955, and has been criticized as racially insensitive because of its depiction of native peoples.
The Orange County Register accounts that Imagineers will upgrade the aquatic appeal’s scenes between shrunken head merchant Trader Sam, along with a rhino pursuing a safari tour set a tree up.
As stated by the Los Angeles Times, Trader Sam is a”dark-skinned guy now outfitted in straw tribal wear” who beckons he’ll exchange”two of his minds for yours.” Meanwhile, the present rhinoceros scene comes with a white traveler atop a tree trunk, as”native socialization guides” cling”in a more dangerous position.”
Moving ahead, a rendering to the brand new rhino scene”only features hapless participants of a preceding Jungle Cruise boat excursion,” the LA Times reports.
