(New York) The World Series went by fast, and it wasn’t just a feeling.

Matches settled in nine sets (four out of five) lasted an average of three hours and one minute.

This is the fastest time since 1996, according to the Elias statistics office.

The recently concluded series were the first since the advent of the clock for pitchers. There were also larger cushions and limits on special defenses.

For the entire series, nine-inning games lasted an average of three hours and two minutes, compared to three hours and 23 minutes last year and three hours and 37 minutes in 2021.

During the regular season, the average length of two hours and 40 minutes was the shortest since 1985.

Only one game in the Fall Classic took more than four hours, the first, where Texas defeated Arizona in 11 innings.

That doesn’t mean that the viewers were there: this World Series was the least watched in history, with an average of 9.11 million people in front of their screen.
