The Canadian | Another Juraj Slafkovsky audition on the first trio

Juraj Slafkovsky scored his first goal of the season Saturday in St. Louis, and now he wants to score another, and then another, ideally.

The young forward will have the opportunity to continue this momentum, as he will be back on the Canadian’s first line on Tuesday evening at the Bell Centre, when the Tampa Bay Lightning visit.

“It finally feels good to be able to get this first goal,” Slafkovsky admitted Tuesday morning at the Bell Centre. It would be nice to score a few more! I have to continue working like this. For me, playing with two great players like that (Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield), it helps with confidence… I’m just happy to be able to skate with them. »

Martin St-Louis, for his part, wants to be able to obtain a little consistency from this first trio, if that is possible.

“We are trying to find stability on this trio,” explained the Canadian coach Tuesday morning at the Bell Center. Not everyone handles it the same way… we’ll see how Slafkovsky behaves with the first trio. »

It should also be noted that Tuesday evening’s visit is an example to follow for Martin St-Louis, who once wore this sweater in his younger days.

“The Lightning are an example to follow, I was involved in that beginning, when (coach) Jon Cooper arrived with the club,” he replied. Since then, there have been players who have been added, others who have left, but the culture of the team was a work in progress, and that is what we are trying to reproduce here. »

Furthermore, forward Rafaël Harvey-Pinard took part in Tuesday morning’s optional training at the Bell Center, but he will not participate in Tuesday evening’s game, as he is still injured.

It’s Jake Allen who will get the start in front of the Canadian’s net.
