(Quebec) The Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) has a new boss: Jacques Farcy, CEO of the Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) since 2021, succeeds Catherine Dagenais who announced her retirement last November.

The Legault government’s cabinet made his appointment on Wednesday, based on a recommendation from the SAQ’s board of directors, as required by procedure.

Jacques Farcy is thus returning to the SAQ, where he was vice-president of marketing and then sales network operations from 2015 to 2021. He will take office on June 26.

Catherine Dagenais is stepping down for retirement at the end of her five-year term. She worked at the SAQ for 23 years.

His total compensation reached $572,533 in 2022-2023. Under her terms of employment, she will receive a severance package of over $450,000 due to her years of continuous service as CEO (2018-2023) and Vice President (2008-2017).
