(Buffalo) Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos will not face the Buffalo Sabers on Tuesday night due to a lower body injury.
Stamkos will also miss a second consecutive game.
Head coach Jon Cooper shared the update before the matchup against the Sabres, specifying that Stamkos’ injury was being evaluated daily. Stamkos appeared to be injured while blocking a shot during a 6-4 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. He was not in uniform the next day, when the Lightning lost 5-2 to the Ottawa Senators.
The Lightning finish their three-game road trip in Buffalo before returning to Tampa to begin a five-game homestand.
The Lightning already have to make do without the services of star goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, who is expected to miss at least a month of activities due to back surgery. Center player Tyler Motte will miss a third game due to an upper body injury.
