Laurie Blouin and Nicolas Laframboise were in the running at the first snowboard World Cup of the season, but they both ended their day just off the podium in the big jump in Chur.
It was Blouin’s last pass on the big jump that made the difference for her to finish the competition without a medal on Saturday evening, in Switzerland. Sixth after the first round with her 70.25 points, the Quebecer obtained the best score (89.50) in the second round, which placed her among the favorites for a medal. However, his third jump (30.50) brought him back down in the rankings.
The Stoneham athlete recorded 159.75 points for his two best jumps.
The Japanese Kokomo Murase (179.25) and Reira Iwabuchi (175.50) took the first two steps of the podium which was completed by the British Mia Brookes (169.75).
In Friday’s qualifying, Emeraude Maheux was ranked 16th.
Among the men, Nicolas Laframboise finished in fourth place, as in qualifying the day before. The snowboarder from St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (156 points) recorded the third best score of the first and third passes on the big jump.
The Japanese Hiroto Ogiwara (171.50), Kira Kimura (168.00) and Takeru Otsuka (167.50) secured the podium.
