Fauve Doucet carried out tests with sharing groups on Facebook before developing the application, officially launched last June.

If it was the idea of ​​reducing overconsumption that motivated Fauve Doucet, she quickly realized that the concept brought other advantages for its users, including that of provoking encounters which would not otherwise have taken place .

The Partage Club team is working on an additional verification step that would increase the level of trust between lenders, because we are essentially relying on the good faith of members for the moment.

However, Fauve Doucet explains that proximity already plays an important role in the equation.

“The probability of seeing a person again in the future makes us trust someone more,” she says, with supporting research.

To this we could add an address verification process with proof of valid residence requested as well as an evaluation of members after a transaction, as is done for example on Airbnb. Members would thus receive the “trustworthy” label.

If the Partage Club was designed for neighborhood neighbors, the application is attracting attention for broader uses, explains its founder.

Laval University has just joined, which will allow professors and students to exchange on campus.

A real estate developer also decided to offer the application to his clients.

In these new business models, the customer can pay fixed fees to Partage Club, fees established according to membership forecasts and which will be revised according to the actual number of subscribers in their community.

This is also what the municipalities that have already supported the club are doing, including Crabtree, Prévost and Beloeil. They can then offer subscriptions at reduced rates or free of charge to their population. For them, there are several advantages, including reducing the quantity of unused items that end up in waste.

Companies are also getting in on the action by offering a private club for their employees. In this case, the member has access to his neighborhood club and his company club, with the same subscription paid by the employer. “For the employer,” says Fauve Doucet, “it’s a gesture of social impact and environmental impact. »
