The good news continues for Eric Chacour’s novel Ce que je sais de toi, which won the Discovery Grant from the Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation on Tuesday.
The Discovery Grant is awarded by the Princess Grace of Monaco Foundation and rewards a French-speaking author for their first work of fiction. This annual prize of 12,000 euros (approximately $17,000) was established in 2001.
Remember that Éric Chacour and his novel Ce que je sais de toi are still in the running for the prestigious Femina and Renaudot prizes, in France, which should unveil the list of their finalists on October 24 and 26 respectively.
Éric Chacour’s first novel, What I Know About You tells the story of Tarek, a doctor in Cairo in the 1980s who is forced into exile. It was published in Quebec in January, by Alto, and in France in August, by the publisher Philippe Rey. It has already won the Première Plume prize since its publication in France, which aims to highlight emerging authors.
