Another week, another early defeat for Félix Auger-Aliassime. The Quebecer lost his first game in Toronto in two sets of 4-6 and 4-6, Tuesday night, against Max Purcell.
The 12th racket in the world suffered the same fate last week in Washington. Auger-Aliassime is unrecognizable these days.
His opponent, however, did not make it easy for him. Purcell, a player from the qualifiers, played an almost faultless match. He was particularly intractable in the service.
Broken from the start, Auger-Aliassime was never able to establish his rhythm during the match. It is a sad evening for the one who was also celebrating his 23rd birthday.
More details to come.
