The Laval Rocket goalkeeper for the past two seasons, Kevin Poulin, is retiring from hockey.

The 33-year-old doorman made the announcement Wednesday night in an Instagram post.

“After 13 years of playing professional hockey around the world and having spent the last two seasons playing here at home, I am proud to announce my retirement,” he wrote first.

“I would like to thank my family, teammates, coaches, fans and everyone who has been involved in my career,” he continued. Young Kevin would be proud of my career and for making so many of my dreams come true. I’m ready to leave the game behind. I know it won’t be easy, but I will always be grateful for the memories, the opportunities and the connections it has allowed me to create. It made me a better man. »

A native of Montreal, Poulin was a 5th round pick of the New York Islanders in 2008. Between 2010 and 2015, he spent his time between the Islanders and their farm club, in Bridgeport. Over the years, he played 50 games in the National League, maintaining a save percentage of .899.

In recent years, the goalkeeper has played in Kazakhstan, Croatia, Switzerland, Germany and Sweden. In July 2021, he returned to Quebec, joining the Laval Rocket, with whom he played 58 games.
