(Milan) AS Roma Argentine striker Paulo Dybala injured a ligament in his left knee during his team’s 4-1 victory at Cagliari, his club said on Monday.

Dybala left the pitch in tears on Sunday following a violent clash with Matteo Prati, sparking fears the Roma star could be out until the new year.

The Roman club, however, explained in a brief press release that examinations carried out on Monday had revealed a sprain of the internal lateral ligament of the left knee, and added to AFP that he would be absent “around four weeks”.

Dybala is expected to miss Roma’s trip to Inter Milan on October 29, but is expected to be back for the Rome derby against Lazio two weeks later.

AS Roma are currently 10th in Serie A with 11 points, after an inconsistent start to the season which led to speculation over a possible dismissal of Portuguese coach José Mourinho.
