(Guadalajara) Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and her partner Erin Routliffe lost 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 against favorites Storm Hunter and Elise Mertens in the women’s doubles final at the Guadalajara Open on Saturday.

Dabrowski and Routliffe, who was born in New Zealand but grew up in Ontario and previously represented Canada, were the third seeds in the tournament. They won the U.S. Open together earlier this month.

Dabrowski and Routliffe committed seven double faults and were broken three times. The duo was riding a nine-game winning streak.

They finished Saturday’s duel with 71% of their first serves in play, compared to 66% for Hunter and Mertens. Dabrowski and Routliffe, however, struggled on second serves, winning only 33% of the points in this situation.

It was quite the opposite for the winners, who won 73% of the rallies played on their second serve.
