(Los Angeles) The semi-final of the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston (clay) between Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic, world No.11 and defending champion, and the American Jessica Pegula (3rd), seeded No. was interrupted on Saturday by rain and will continue on Sunday at 11 a.m. local time.
Bencic won the first set 7-5, but Pegula led 4-2 in the second set tiebreaker before the game was interrupted around 8 p.m. (11 p.m. EST) local time.
The winner of the match will find Ons Jabeur (5th), finalist last season, against Bencic precisely.
The Tunisian beat the Russian Daria Kasatkina (8th), 7-5, 7-5, taking advantage of an interruption due to the rain, to align five games in a row and win the first set, while she was trailing 5-2.
Jabeur, a finalist at Wimbledon and the US Open last year, qualified for her first final of the season and her eleventh on the WTA Tour. She will try to win her fourth title.
