Taylor Swift’s popularity is not slowing down. The American singer has once again set new records on the charts.
Released last week, the re-recording of her album 1989 rose to the top of the Billboard charts with the equivalent of 1.6 million units sold, the singer’s best career start.
You have to go back to 2015 to find a better performance from another artist, underlines the Billboard website. Eight years ago, the equivalent of 3.5 million copies of Adele’s album 25 were sold in seven days.
Released in 2014, the original 1989 version sold nearly 1.3 million copies in the first week.
The impressive statistics of the interpreter of Shake It Off, Blank Space and Bad Blood (three titles found on 1989) do not stop there. Eight of his songs appeared in the top 10 on the Billboard charts this week.
This new opus is Taylor Swift’s 13th to reach the top position of the best-selling albums.
Recall that after a dispute with the owner of the Red Machine record company, Scooter Braun, concerning the property rights to her first six albums, Taylor Swift undertook to re-record all of her old opuses. The 1989 “Taylor’s Version” includes 21 songs, including five previously unreleased songs.
