Cultural workers from more than 325 publishing houses around the world, united under the umbrella of Publishers For Palestine, demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and denounce the “genocide” perpetrated by the Israeli government in the place of the Palestinians, who deplore more than 11,000 deaths.

“We salute the courage and resilience of the Palestinians, their deep love of their historic land and their refusal to be erased, despite Israel’s genocidal acts of violence. Despite the complicity of Western media and cultural industries, we find a little hope in the voices that are raised or those that are written to combat falsehoods in order to build a united human community on social networks and in our streets”, we can read in the petition signed by these publishers.

Among the signatories, we find the Quebec publishing houses Mémoire d’encrier, Éditions du Remue-Ménage, Écosociété and Lux édition.

“As cultural workers sensitive to words and language, we see that this genocide is being carried out by Israeli military leaders who portray Palestinians as animals to justify their attacks on civilians in Gaza. It is shocking to hear such dehumanizing language from a people who have experienced the same punishment. We also recall that this rhetoric of genocide and erasure is at the heart of the Zionist movement […]. »

In witness to which this group of publishers demands that the Israeli government “put an end to the violence committed in Gaza and the West Bank and to its apartheid regime”. It is also a question of “safeguarding the freedom of expression of Palestinian voices” that we are trying to silence.
