Restructuring continues at Olymel, which will move its head office to Boucherville, in the southern suburbs of Montreal, where the distribution network will also be consolidated. The goal: to achieve significant “money savings.” There will be “no job loss,” promises the meat processor.

In total, 195 company employees will have to leave Saint-Hyacinthe as part of the move, which is expected to begin next summer and last until early 2026. They will be located in the warehouse that formerly housed the headquarters social network of the food distributor Colabor, on Boulevard de Montarville.

This warehouse is close to the Olymel facilities located on rue Eiffel.

“The creation of this new strategic center will make it possible to achieve significant savings in money and time, increase efficiency and promote better management of all files by bringing the teams closer together,” says the President and CEO of Olymel. , Yanick Gervais.

However, he did not quantify the savings that should be made.

It’s been an eventful year for Olymel, which is 84% owned by Sollio Groupe Coopératif. Facing significant financial challenges, the company has made numerous announcements of factory closures since the start of the year.

Last April, it was the pig slaughtering and cutting plant in Vallée-Jonction, in Beauce, which suffered due to the withdrawal. We will have to shut down the business for good on December 22. Some 1,000 jobs will then have been eliminated since last spring.

Last Thursday, the 301 employees of the factory located in Princeville, in Center-du-Québec, went to work for the last time. The closure of the site was announced last September. Olymel also brought forward the closure of its facilities in Saint-Simon, in Montérégie, to January 26, a year earlier than planned. Fifteen employees are affected.

“The optimization of our business model at all stages, from the farm to our customers’ tables, is our priority,” underlines Mr. Gervais, in the press release confirming the move of the head office to Boucherville.
