(Toronto) Another season, another record for the Canadians in the NBA.
Canada set a new mark with 27 players entering the 2023-24 NBA campaign. For a 10th consecutive season, Canada will be the most represented country in the Silver Tour – besides, of course, the United States.
The total of 27 represents an increase of four from the same point last season.
Two representatives of the maple leaf were selected in the NBA draft in June – Montrealer Olivier-Maxence Prosper, in the first round, by the Dallas Mavericks, and Ontario Leonard Miller, in the second round, by the San Spurs Antonio, who then traded him to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Among the Canadian headliners on the circuit are Montrealers Luguentz Dort, of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Bennedict Mathurin, of the Indiana Pacers. Their compatriots Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder), Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets) and Andrew Wiggins (Golden State Warriors) are also part of this impressive cohort.
As for the Toronto Raptors, they have a player from the country in their ranks: Montrealer Chris Boucher.
The NBA season will get underway Tuesday evening with two games. The Raptors will begin their campaign on Wednesday, hosting the Timberwolves.
