NFL | Hard return to reality for the Lions

The New England Patriots caused an upset by defeating the Buffalo Bills 29-25. It was a symbolic victory for Bill Belichick, as he became only the third head coach in NFL history to reach 300 career season wins. Only Don Shula (328) and George Halas (318) are more victorious than the Pats pilot. This gain will also do a lot of good for quarterback Mac Jones. He completed 25 of 30 pass attempts for 272 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jones targeted Mike Gesicki in the end zone for the game-clinching touchdown with 12 seconds left in the game. In addition, he was not the victim of an interception for the first time since the third week of activities. Quite a contrast to his last three starts, during which he totaled five interceptions and no touchdown passes. The Patriots (2-5) brake a series of three defeats.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost their first game of the season and have since gone undefeated in six games. This time, they got the better of the Los Angeles Chargers 31-17 in a victory signed by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Are there any surprises? Mahomes had 424 passing yards and four pass rushes. This is the fifth time in his career that he has finished a game with at least 400 yards and four touchdowns. His partner in crime, Kelce, finished the day with 179 yards and a major. He generated at least 100 yards in the first half for the second week in a row. This is the first time since 2000 that a tight end has had 100 yards in the first two quarters in two consecutive games. With a 6-1 record, Andy Reid’s men sit alone at the top of the American Conference West division.

With an already difficult season, it was without Justin Fields, injured in his thumb, that the Chicago Bears faced the Las Vegas Raiders. And they found a way to confound the doubters with a 30-12 victory thanks to a strong performance from D’Onta Foreman. The running back scored three touchdowns and produced 120 yards. Two of his three majors were on races; the other was successful after catching a pass from Tyson Bagent. Foreman never scored more than five touchdowns in a single season. He already has three in total and we can only wish him to beat his mark with ten matches remaining. As for Bagent, he threw his first career touchdown pass in his first NFL start. Of his 29 pass attempts, 22 were taken for a total of 162 yards. It’s a great story for someone who was playing in the second division of the NCAA last year. Bears fans will welcome this scenario with joy, they who do not have much to sink their teeth into with only two victories this season.

After defeating the San Francisco 49ers, the Cleveland Browns took a 39-38 victory from the Colts in Indianapolis. On the offensive end, Kareem Hunt visited the end zone twice. And Myles Garrett led his defensive unit with two sacks, seven tackles and a pass knockdown. The defensive end even blocked a field goal attempt. He was a constant threat against the opposition. This duel marked the return to play of quarterback Deshaun Watson, who had been nursing a shoulder injury. But it didn’t last long. His head hit the ground after he was tackled by Dayo Odeyingbo. But more fear than harm. He has successfully passed the concussion protocol and his head coach, Kevin Stefanski, even expects him to return to his position next week. With their victory, the Browns (4-2) are third in a congested division, behind the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) and the Baltimore Ravens (5-2).
