The Montreal team, which will play in the first season of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (LPHF), will welcome 32 players to its training camp which will begin on November 15.
The list, as revealed in a press release from LPHF leaders, will bring together 19 attackers, eight defenders and five goalkeepers.
Among them is Quebec striker Mélodie Daoust, Olympic gold medalist in 2014 and 2022, as well as at the 2021 World Championship. Daoust is one of 14 players invited to the Montreal club’s camp.
The list includes the three free agents hired by general manager Danièle Sauvageau, namely forwards Marie-Philip Poulin and Laura Stacey as well as goalkeeper Ann-Renée Desbiens. It also brings together the 15 players requested during the selection session on September 18.
In total, 184 hockey players will take part in the training camps of the six teams that make up the circuit. The other groups are based in Ottawa, Toronto, Boston, Minnesota and New York.
To begin training camps, the six teams will bring together a minimum of 28 hockey players and a maximum of 35. On December 11, they will have to count on a total of 23 players who have signed standard LPHF contracts and two others who will have initialed so-called reserve agreements.
The regular season is scheduled to begin in early January.
